Indoor Turbo Trainers- not just for bad weather days

It takes a truly dedicated rider to keep pedalling through the depths of winter. Owning a static trainer means you can carry on riding without even leaving your front door.

Indoor trainers work via resistance being applied to the pedalling action, created by 3 main methods: a flywheel that rotates in a magnetic field and two fan resistance options which push a fan through air or fluid.

If you just want to keep the legs turning over when the weather is bad most trainers will meet your needs. But if you are after something that mimics riding on the road or want to meet specific training or fitness goals then you will need a more specialised trainer that allows you to carry out varied sessions: fast and slow pedalling while maintaining resistance.

At Bike n Bean we stock trainers at different budgets and training settings.

CycleOps Fluid2 Trainer

We have the Cycleops range, with their quick release mechanism making it easy to mount your bike. Its pretty lightweight compared to other trainers, and folds down compactly.  It works via progressive resistance: pedalling faster or shifting gears on your bike increases resitance. Recommended by Cycling Active Magazine (2012). Starting from $269.
